St Kieran’s College is a diocesan Catholic secondary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Ossory. St Kieran of Saighir is said to have preached the Gospel in Ireland before St Patrick. The College was established in 1782, ‘the first Catholic College in the Kingdom’ to open its doors after Grattan’s Parliament had relaxed the Penal Laws in the same year.

Subject Choice. Each year students in St Kieran’s College must make decisions regarding the subjects they wish to sit for their Junior and Leaving Certificate Examinations. These decisions are made towards the end of 1st Year and Transition Year respectively. Students will make their decisions in consultation with their teachers and parents.

Following an All-Ireland final defeat to the Limerick school in 2022, the Kilkenny team will be hoping to gain retribution and move one-step closer towards the heralded title.
