Although this release appears very similar in artwork and packaging to Jesse Ed Davis - Red Dirt Boogie: The Atco Recordings 1970-1972 it lacks the caption "Disc Made in Mexico"; rather, it states on the disc face: "Made in Germany", and a "big W" in the M/R line means it was repressed in one of Warner's facilities in Germany.

Jesse Ed Davis, a Native American guitarist, played on many legendary recordings. He died in relative obscurity at the age of 43 in Los Angeles of a drug overdose. Red Dirt Boogie contains his first two albums. In the 60s, an Oklahoma-native, Davis toured with Conway Twitty.
