12 de feb. de 2021 · Some fans see the artwork of John Wesley Harding as an answer/parody to that of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper. Although there’s no sign of him playing any of that albums’ song during the months he spent playing with the Band in the basement of their Big Pink house, Dylan must have been aware of that album as his portrait can be seen on the cover.
The John Wesley Harding album is filled with ironies, but the most notable one, possibly, is the fact that Dylan decided to reach way, way back for more of his subject matter. He even began invoking biblical images and figures - not to make any direct statements, but rather to filter them through more recent times; American folk history, basically.

A gentlemanly gambler who made most of his money betting on horses or dealing in cattle, Hardin left his mark on history as one of the Wild West’s most skilled gunmen, killing at least 21 men in duels and ambushes between 1868 and 1877.

According to a contributor here by the name of RobertoArredondo, who researched this release atated that cccording to the Brian Hinton who wrote the book "Bob Dylan Complete Discography," on page 65, confirms that the "John Wesley Harding" LP was released in January 1968 in the USA, and February 23, 1968 in the UK.
