  1. I am likely in the minority here, but I absolutely love the French Plantation scene in Apocalypse Now Redux. I was confused when I first saw it, but after researching what they were all talking about (Dien Bien Phu, the Vietcong, bringing rubber from Brazil, and the many French losses during that time) it made more sense to me and like I said I think it’s an amazing scene.

Ultimately, the movie should not be considered a realistic portrayal of anything, but rather, a symbolic journey into the heart of darkness.
