Roland Barthes (12. marraskuuta 1915 Cherbourg, Ranska – 26. maaliskuuta 1980 Pariisi, Ranska [1] [2]) oli ranskalainen kirjallisuudentutkija ja semiootikko. Strukturalisteihin ja myöhemmin jälkistrukturalisteihin lukeutunut Barthes oli Ferdinand de Saussuren seuraaja. Barthesin teorian ytimenä on ajatus merkityksellistämisen kahdesta tasosta, denotaatiosta ja konnotaatiosta.

Una de sus obras más influyentes, «Mitologías» (1957), presenta una serie de ensayos en los que examina diversos mitos culturales y sus estructuras subyacentes.
