I remember hearing one of the first of Johnny Cash's recordings, Cry, Cry, Cry, in 1955 and noticed the different and unusual sound of his music. I was so struck by the base rhythm of Luther Perkins' guitar and John's rangy and raw voice that I ordered the 45 recording right away.
