“Memphis Charlie” Musselwhite is a versatile country blues harmonica player in the tradition of the great early players like Hammie Nixon, DeFord Bailey, Sonny Boy Williamson I and II. This not because he emulates their style and riffs but because he does not rely heavily on the sound system and amplification for his tone and style.
30 de ene. de 2024 · Charlie Musselwhite. C harlie Musselwhite was born in the hill country of Mississippi and landed in Memphis at a time when the city was coming of age right along with him. The Memphis clubs were exploding into the dynamic music scene that blended black and white influences and gave birth to rock and roll and its greatest giants.
When he was three years old, Musselwhite's family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he would later attend high school and soak up the rich influence of the city's blues and rock & roll community. He learned to play harmonica and guitar when he was 13, and he sought out some of the city's legendary blues artists, learning from the likes of Furry Lewis, Will Shade, and Memphis Willie B.
Charlie Musselwhite (* 31. ledna 1944, Kosciusko, Mississippi, USA) je americký bluesový hráč na foukací harmoniku a kytaru. Jedná se o jednoho z nejlepších bluesových harmonikářů všech dob. Isnpriroval několik hudebníků, mezi které patří i Dan Aykroyd a skupina Blues Brothers [1]. V roce 2010 byl uveden do Blues Hall of Fame .
