  5. When the Stray Cats entered the stage in the 80's, rockabilly was hot. Grease quiffs and tattoos were the outside badges; upright drums and bass the characteristic instruments. The band was founded 1979 in New York. Their first album rapidly appeared on the British charts. It was the mixture of traditional rockabilly and new wave which helped quickly popularize the Stray Cats all around the world.

I was fortunate to see the Cats live at 5 different shows in the late 80's and early 90's but never in their first go around, here in the States. This DVD/CD "Live at Rockpalast" and the "Live at the "Montreux 1981" DVD filled in the time that I did not personally see the Cats live.
