On Journeyman, Clapton finally sees himself as, if not yet a blues master, at least someone on the road toward it. And that's what allowed a then-44-year-old to find a new, different depth in a blues song written by a 30-year-old Diddley.
Robert Cray was born on August 1, 1953, in Columbus, Georgia, while his father was stationed at Fort Benning. Cray's musical beginnings go back to when he was a student at Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia. While there, he played in his first band, The One-Way Street. [6]
