Todd Rundgren, along with three members of Utopia, Roger Powell, John Siegler and Willie Wilcox, play some fine, but very close to the original versions of songs by The Yardbirds, The Beach Boys, The Beatles (twice), Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. The songs are good, but the really interesting stuff is on the second side.

It is a 36-minute long song, but not one like The Ikon (from TR's Utopia) with a full band and guitar solos, etc, but instead just Todd on synthesizers and no vocals. It seems to me from listening to this, that Rundgren had intended to write another 30-minute progressive rock epic, like The Ikon, and this track is his sketching out of the piece in the studio.
Yes, TODD RUNDGREN is a ridiculously talented and lamentably inconsistent pop star. He's still out there, believe it or not, part of the latest incarnation of THE CARS: there's really nothing he can't do. But for a few years, amid all his pop/rock innovation, he spearheaded UTOPIA, who produced this debut album of outstanding music.
