6 de jul. de 2020 · Ronnie Van Zant was the frontman for the band, which included Bob Burns on drums (at first, later replaced by Artemis Pyle), plus Larry Junstrom on bass and Gary Rossington and Allen Collinson on guitars. They had a unique, driving sound — rock sensibilities with a touch of twang that served them well, both in the recording studio and on the road.

He was the oldest son of six children (3 sisters and 2 brothers - musicians Donnie and Johnny). Ronnie attended Lee High School in Jacksonville with fellow band members Gary Rossington and Allen Collins. They soon formed what would become Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Ronnie Van Zant’s Death. On October 20, 1977, one week before the band was scheduled to perform in New York, their plane went down in Mississippi after running out of fuel. Interestingly, Ronnie often had premonitions that he would die before he was 30. Artimus Pyle remembers him foretelling his doomed fate.
