3 de mar. de 2023 · Trilok Gurtu (born in Mumbai (Bombay) on 30 October 1951) is an Indian percussionist. His mother, singer Shobha Gurtu, started him on the tabla, and he later studied the instrument with Abdul Karim.He started playing the Western drum kit in the 1970s, and became interested in jazz.

3 de mar. de 2023 · About Trilok Gurtu The musical traditions of the Eastern and Western worlds are bridged through the improvisations of Bombay, India-born percussionist/vocalist Trilok Gurtu. A member of trumpeter Don Cherry's band from 1976 to 1978, Gurtu has worked with such influential musicians as guitarists John McLaughlin and Pat Metheny, saxophonist Bill Evans, and keyboardist Joe Zawinul.
