Biography. Donald David Dixon Ronald O’Connor was born on August 28, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois and died on September 27, 2003 in Los Angeles, California. He was an American actor, singer and dancer who became famous in a series of movies in which he costarred alternately with Gloria Jean, Peggy Ryan, and Francis the Talking Mule.

28 de sept. de 2003 · Entertainer Donald O’Connor, who combined comedy and acrobatics in the show-stopping “Make ’Em Laugh” number in the classic movie “Singin’ in the Rain,” died Saturday, his daughter said.
Answer. Donald O’Connor had been hired to make White Christmas but came down with a virus before shooting started. Paramount held the project for him, but he was not able to recover fully enough for the dance numbers in time to make the shooting schedule required for a December release. Danny Kaye inherited the part.
