John White (c. 1756-20 de febrero de 1832) fue un cirujano, botánico, zoólogo y explorador inglés.. White era nativo de Sussex (algunas fuentes afirman que nació en 1750) [1] e ingresó a la Royal Navy el 26 de junio de 1778 como cirujano asistente de 3ª. [2] Fue promovido a cirujano en 1780, y fue cirujano principal durante el viaje de la Primera Flota a Australia.

in the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Volume 2 , 1967. online in 2006. John White (1756?-1832), naval surgeon, entered the navy on 26 June 1778 as third surgeon's mate in H.M.S. Wasp. He received his diploma of the Company of Surgeons on 2 August 1781, and in the next five years his naval service took him as far as the West Indies and India.
