Dear Community, Welcome to Washington Preparatory School (WAPrep), a 6th -12th-grade college preparatory school that emphasizes STEM, project learning, communication skills, and entrepreneurial thinking. WAPrep opened its doors in the fall of 2018, and the faculty are looking forward to beginning our fifth academic school year.
The last of my two sons left George Preparatory School in 2020. During that time, I served 2 back-to-back terms on their Governing Body and my wife was very active in the PTA. We have seen the transition of Headmaster, Mr. Roux to Mrs. Lokkie Fourie and the advertising, interview, and appointment of highly skilled teachers during those 6 years.
The first magnet program at George Washington High School opened in 1981 with an emphasis in math and science. The goal was to provide a rigorous college preparatory experience emphasizing math and science for inner city students. In 1989, a second magnet opened on the campus with an emphasis in music, theater and the performing arts.
