Grandville. Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard. Ilustrador francés. Nació el 3 de septiembre de 1803 en Nancy. Hijo y sobrino de miniaturistas, trabajó y aprendió junto a su padre. Cuando tenía veintitrés años se trasladó a París. Asistió al taller de Mansion y posteriormente al de Hippolyte Lecomte.

Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard (13 September 1803 – 17 March 1847) was a prolific French illustrator and caricaturist who published under the pseudonym of Grandville, and numerous variations (e. g. Jean-Jacques Grandville, Jean Ignace Isidore Grandville) throughout his career.

Today remembered primarily for his political cartoons in pioneering publications such as La Caricature and for his somewhat fantastical illustrations of people and animals, Grandville created a body of work that served as inspiration for later Surrealist artists.
