It serves no comic function, and just sort of sits there in the air, making me cringe. I know, I know, four-letter language is the currency of a movie like this, and many of the other films Judd Apatow produces.
They grow up so fast. Brennan Huff and Dale Doback might be grown men. But that doesn’t stop them from living at home and turning into jealous, competitive stepbrothers when their single parents marry. Step Brothers Comedy 2008 1 hr 37 min Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) and Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) have one thing in common: they are both lazy, unemployed leeches who still live with their parents.
Step Brothers obviously isn't the most complex screenplay ever written, but Ferrell, McKay and Reilly (who all co-wrote the film) manage to milk plenty of comedy out of essentially a one-joke movie.
