Powerful People is het tweede studioalbum van de Canadese zanger van Italiaanse afkomst Gino Vannelli.Het album werd in 1974 uitgebracht, en geproduceerd door Gino en zijn broer Joe Vannelli, samen met de toenmalige eigenaar van A&M: Herb Alpert.. Met het funky nummer "People Gotta Move" had Vannelli zijn eerste hit in de VS, terwijl op dat moment disco in opkomst kwam.
Gino proceeded to play songs on his acoustic guitar he had recently written, including “People Gotta Move,” “Crazy Life,” “Mama Coco,” “Powerful People” and “Lady”—songs that would end up on the six albums Vannelli would record for A&M between 1974 and 1978. That very day, Gino was welcomed as a new member of the A&M family.

You’ve created the musical background of my life ever since the release of Powerful people back in the 70ies (when I was in high school). I was totally blown away and it marked the start of a lasting career of enjoying your fantastic music.
