In 2004, Budd decided to retire, claiming he had said all he wanted to, and that he "didn't mind disappearing." His "final" outing, Avalon Sutra/As Long as I Can See My Breath, appeared on David Sylvian's Samadhi Sound imprint as a double disc.

This is the original Avalon Sutra master as released in 2004 via Samadhi Sound. When we began the job to reissue Avalon Sutra in 2013, we found that while it was well mastered, the original premaster DAT tape revealed greater dynamic range. We also found that due to age, the original DAT premaster had digital artifacts
