Founded in 1891 Hotchkiss strives to develop in students a lifelong love of learning responsible citizenship and personal integrity. Our students come from 32 states and 35 foreign countries. Thirty-three percent are students of color. Over $9.7 million in financial aid is available each year; 32 percent of students receive financial aid.
The first class period begins at 8:30 a.m. Classes are 45 minutes long, with five-minute breaks between periods. Between second and third periods, depending on the day of the week, students will attend either All School meetings, Chapel (a nondenominational gathering in which students listen to talks by faculty and students), class, or advisory group meetings.

Boys Hockey. Hotchkiss Hockey has a proud and successful history that includes not only winning New England Championships but also sending players on to college and professional careers. Recent alums in the National Hockey League have included Torrey Mitchell ’04 and Luke Glendening ’08.
