Science. Welcome to Science! Throughout all areas of the science curriculum offered at Shawlands we aim to enable learners to become scientifically literate citizens who will recognise the impact of science on their lives, the environment and society in order to allow them to understand and engage in topical scientific debate.
National 5 comprises of two internally assessed units: Spoken Language Unit (talking and listening) and Literacy (reading, writing, listening and talking). At this level pupils will develop their skills to understand and create detailed language texts. In addition, pupils will submit a folio of writing to the SQA for external examination.

What is Shawlands Academy doing to help my daughter/son make an informed choice?In their Personal and Social Education classes, all S2 pupils have discussed possible future careers and looked at issues of equal opportunities. Over the next few weeks all pupils will have the opportunity to discuss their choice with their Pastoral Care Teacher.
