  6. Hinckley Bowling Club was founded in 1908. The club is affiliated to Bowls Leicestershire and Bowls England. The club aims to provide a platform for players to compete at club, county or international level whilst providing facilities for newcomers and bowlers of all standards to enjoy a friendly game of bowls with like-minded club members and against other local clubs.

  7. The town's name was Squaw Grove. Hinckley was conceived in the 1870's as the brainchild of Francis Hinckley, president of the Chicago and Iowa Railroad. The rail line was placed one-half mile east of the Village of Squaw Grove, which was then named Hinckley. From this early birth, much change and innovation would come to Hinckley.
