Originally released in 1971 [CTI Records CTI 6005]. Track 4 is a bonus track included on this release and was previously unreleased. Tracks 1-3 recorded November 1970 at Van Gelder Studios. Track 4 recorded live July 19, 1971 at the Southgate Palace in LA. Includes an 8-page booklet with notes in English.
Stanley William Turrentine was an American jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer. He began his career playing R&B for Earl Bostic and later soul jazz recording for the Blue Note label from 1960, touching on jazz fusion during a stint on CTI in the 1970s. He was described by critic Steve Huey as "renowned for his distinctively thick, rippling tone [and] earthy grounding in the blues."
