1946–1966. Arthur Haynes (14 May 1914 [1] – 19 November 1966) [2] was an English comedian and star of The Arthur Haynes Show, a comedy sketch series produced by ATV from 1956 [3] until his death from a heart attack in 1966. Haynes also appeared on radio and in films.

Starting on radio, Arthur Haynes became a big star after the war and began this ATV sketch show in 1956, returning to radio in 1962 with a show of the same title. His comedy sidekick was a certain Nicholas Parsons, who continued to star alongside him until Haynes untimely death in 1966 aged just 50.
Arthur Haynes belongs within that select, long and unsung latter group. Arthur Haynes was born in Hammersmith, London, in May 1914, the only child of a baker. At school he showed a flair for art so his parents, who were not particularly well off, scraped around enough money to send him to Chiswick Polytechnic Art School to train as an architect.
