The Moon and The Melodies features ethereal dream pop that is typical of Cocteau Twins but with a magical edge courtesy of Harold Budd. I particularly enjoyed the shimmering opener Sea, Swallow Me (although I do feel the vocals break the emotional trance that the intro puts you into) and Eyes are Mosaics, with their minimalist percussion that works in tandem with soft, snowy production.

Harold Montgomory Budd (May 24, 1936 – December 8, 2020) was an American music composer and poet. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the Mojave Desert , he became a respected composer in the minimal music and avant-garde scene of Southern California in the late 1960s, and later became better known for his work with figures such as Brian Eno and Robin Guthrie .
