Eire Apparent was a psychedelic band from Belfast, Northern Ireland, noted for launching the careers of Henry McCullough and Ernie Graham, and for having Robert Wyatt and Jimi Hendrix play on, and Jimi Hendrix produce, their only album. Originally formed as The People (9) in 1965, they changed their name to Eire Apparent in 1967. They broke up in May 1970.
Eire Apparent was in fact the last lineup of The People, a band whose history dates back through several lineup changes to the early 1960's. The People had been managed by David Robinson and had moved from North Ireland to Blackpool and then spent a highly successful and influential period in Dublin, before setting off for London in May 1967.
