In 2006 Fusilier Andy Barlow lost his leg while on operations in Afghanistan, in a series of events so sensational in 2014 it was made into a movie, “Kajaki”. Just two years later Andy started skiing, and in 2014 took part in the Sochi Winter Olympics. In 2009 Andy started sailing with the Army and now teaches able-bodied soldiers and their families.

During his 19 seasons as the head coach, Andy Barlow has elevated the MIT baseball program to one of the best in the NEWMAC and the New England region. In the 2022 season, the Engineers heated up as the postseason approached and as the No. 5 seed in the league tournament, the team knocked out three teams en route to a berth in the 2022 NEWMAC Championship Game.
