Seeing Sonic's continued resolve to stop the witch, Nimue and the Knights give Sonic the power of the sacred swords to restore Caliburn – now revealed to be the true Excalibur – and Sonic transforms into an armored super form called Excalibur Sonic. He defeats Merlina, destroying the Dark Hollow.
Excalibur(エクスカリバー Ekusukaribā?) has the base appearance of Caliburn, but extra majestic details. He has a crown shaped figure on the pull-back hilt with a ruby in the center and a glowing outer blade around the physical one.
Merlina sends Sonic to retrieve a sword from the stone so that he can fight King Arthur, who wields the sheath of Excalibur, but the sword Sonic draws is a stern Talking Weapon named Caliburn. Then it turns out that Excalibur is actually Caliburn's Super Mode, which he enters when combined with the legendary swords of the other knights.
