WPC/DC Annie Cartwright is a fictional character in BBC One's science fiction/police procedural drama, Life on Mars. The character is portrayed by Liz White. In the American version the character's surname is changed to 'Norris' and she is portrayed by Gretchen Mol.
In early 1973, WPC Annie Cartwright first met Detective Inspector Sam Tyler while working for the Manchester and Salford Police. Annie interprets Sam's story of being from 2006 as a result of concussion at first, and then later as a psychological problem.
Liz White (born 1979 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire) is an English actress, best known for her regular role as WPC/WDC Annie Cartwright in the BBC time travel drama Life on Mars, which began in January 2006.
Elizabeth White (born 11 August 1979) is an English actress. She grew up in Plymouth and attended Plymstock School from 1989 until 1994. She is known for portraying roles of Annie Cartwright in the BBC One drama series Life on Mars (2006–2007), and Emma Keane in the Channel 4 school-based drama series Ackley Bridge (2017–2019).
