10 de abr. de 2019 · Given that T. ‘elegans’ is the type species of the genus and this name is not valid, we suggest T. calbucensis as the new type species for the genus Tonicia. Distribution Southern South America from Puerto Montt to the Magellan Strait (40–53°S) and also found in Estados and the Falkland Islands.

Description. Animal of medium to large size, reaching 43 mm in examined specimens. Shell elongate-oval, not much elevated, the dorsal ridge rounded, side-slopes straightened. Color umber-brown at the sides, becoming chestnut in the middle, delicately and peculiarly speckled and blotched and streaked with buff or buff-white.
