A modern fairy tale with a distinctly American setting, a delightfully levelheaded heroine, and engaging fantasy characters, the story was enormously popular and became a classic of children’s literature.
The Wizard is one of the characters in the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Unseen for most of the book, he is the ruler of the Land of Oz and highly venerated by his subjects. Believing he is the only man capable of solving their problems, Dorothy and her friends travel to the Emerald City , the capital of Oz, to meet him.

19 de jul. de 2023 · The Shaggy Man and Polychrome, the rainbow's daughter, first meet in the 1909 book, The Road to Oz, and both travel with Dorothy and are major characters. When the two characters meet again in the 1914 book, Tik-Tok of Oz, however, they don't appear to recognize each other: "I - I've lost my bow!" wailed Polychrome.
Hickory/The Tin Man. Hickory is another farmhand who comes to see vaguely familiar in Oz. In that magical place, he takes the form of a woodsman made of metal who joines Dorothy and the Scarecrow to see if the Wizard can provide him with a heart. Zeke/The Cowardly Lion.
