The Stingray Nebula (Hen 3-1357) is the youngest-known planetary nebula, having appeared in the 1980s. The nebula is located in the direction of the southern constellation Ara (the Altar), and is located 18,000 light-years (5,600 parsecs) away.

La nebulosa Stingray (Mantarraya) es una nebulosa planetaria en la constelación de Ara, el altar, distante unos 18 000 años luz de la Tierra. Formalmente es conocida como Hen 3-1357. Es la nebulosa más joven que se conoce, 1 pues su estrella central empezó a iluminar el gas hace 35 años.
Named because its shape resembles a stingray fish, the nebula is one-tenth the size of most planetary nebulae and is 18 000 light-years away in the direction of the southern constellation Ara (the Altar). Because of its small size, no details of the Stingray Nebula were visible before Hubble observations were first carried out in 1993.
