The Heads appear in Post-Mortem where they are the only way the player is able to escape. They are tasked with collecting a certain amount of Mickey heads, each in any of the random cameras. Once you do, you will escape Post-Mortem and re-enter the night and on the hour you initially died on.
The 2.0 update adds Custom Nights for Post-Mortem as well. All 6 Shades are unlocked by default: Shade Photo-Negative Mickey — Stab Your Best Friend when he enters your Office. Shade Oswald — Stab YBF when he enters your Office. Shade Donald — Do not collect Mickey heads he has possessed.
