Rimbaud once had Verlaine play a "game" in which Verlaine would stretch out his hand on the table and Rimbaud would stab at his spread fingers. Verlaine thought the point of the game was to show that he wouldn't flinch, that he trusted Rimbaud. But Rimbaud quite simply stabbed him in the wrist.
Maybe once Verlaine and Rimbaud hit the screen the creator will be confident enough/not care about possible blow back from bigots tainting the BSD community. The manga hasn't been faithfully adapted so far, so there is hope for Verbaud's relationship to be genuinely expressed vs friend zoned.
