Strawberry Hill House —often called simply Strawberry Hill —is a Gothic Revival villa that was built in Twickenham, London, by Horace Walpole (1717–1797) from 1749 onward. It is a typical example of the "Strawberry Hill Gothic" style of architecture, [1] and it prefigured the nineteenth-century Gothic Revival.

Strawberry Hill House & Garden, created by Horace Walpole in the 18th century, has been open to visitors for over 250 years. This extraordinary building is internationally famous as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture and home to an increasingly important collection of paintings and objects.
From 1739-41, Walpole embarked on a Grand Tour and European influences can be seen in Strawberry Hill House’s design. Over his lifetime Walpole was an avid writer, leaving many works including some 7,000 letters and an account of his collection in ‘A Description of the Villa of Horace Walpole’.

After a £10 million repair and restoration programme, twenty rooms now appear as Walpole left them when he died at the end of the eighteenth century.
