You need a legit copy of wc3 to play on w3champions. So that's either Reforged or your old classic CDKey. The classic client does auto-update to Reforged though, so there's no official way to play wc3 online without at least the Reforged client.

Eurobattle.net - (Uses 1.28a for custom maps / 1.26 for data) Utilizes battlenet GUI. Can host your own game.
