Athena and Phevos (Greek: Αθηνά, Φοίβος; pronounced and were the official mascots of the 2004 Summer Olympics and Proteas (Greek: Πρωτέας, ) was the official mascot of the 2004 Summer Paralympics, both held in Athens, Greece.
The 2004 Olympics had two official mascots: Athena and Phevos (Greek pronunciation: Athina and Fivos). The sister and brother were named after Athena , the goddess of wisdom, strategy and war, and Phoebus , the god of light and music, respectively.

Proteas the seahorse is the mascot of the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. Proteas the seahorse was created to express the values of the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games – Strength, Pursuit, Inspiration and Celebration.
Their names were inspired by two Olympian Gods: Athena, goddess of wisdom and patron of the city of Athens. Phevos, the Olympian god of light and music, known as Apollo. Athena and Phevos quickly became part of Greek everyday life and impressed everyone with their presence during the Games.
