El día de Waitangi ( Waitangi Day) es el día nacional de Nueva Zelanda. Conmemora la firma del Tratado de Waitangi el 6 de febrero de 1840, el día que Nueva Zelanda pasa a formar parte del Imperio británico.
Desde el 6 de febrero de 1973 se celebra este día como día de Nueva Zelanda y es fiesta nacional. Las conmemoraciones comienzan en Waitangi el día anterior con distintos actos culturales, ceremonias, discursos y muchas hakas.

El Tratado de Waitangi (en inglés: the Treaty of Waitangi, maorí: Te Tiriti o Waitangi) se firmó en Waitangi, en la Bahía de las Islas (Nueva Zelanda), el 6 de febrero de 1840. Fue firmado por funcionarios de la corona británica actuando en representación de la reina Victoria I, y por jefes maoríes de la isla Norte.
Every year on 6 February, New Zealand marks the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. In that year, representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Māori Chiefs throughout the country signed New Zealand’s founding document.
