Maya Sharma is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera Coronation Street, played by Sasha Behar. Maya is remembered by fans of the programme for her relationship with Dev Alahan ( Jimmi Harkishin) and her feud with Dev's wife Sunita Parekh ( Shobna Gulati ). Maya held the pair hostage in her flat, and set the building on fire.
Gulati married the architect Anshu Srivastava in a Hindu ceremony on 10 November 1990; the couple divorced in May 1994. Shobna lived separately from her husband and became pregnant. From 1999 to 2003, Shobna was in a relationship with the ex-Emmerdale actor Gary Turner.
