Irish actor Paul Mescal gained recognition for his starring role in the miniseries Normal People (2020), for which he won a British Academy Television Award for Best Actor as well as a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
His leading role as a troubled father in Aftersun (2022) earned him nominations for an Academy Award and BAFTA Film Award. Mescal won a Laurence Olivier Award for his portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in a 2022 revival of the play A Streetcar Named Desire.
