Hippolyte-Paul Delaroche ( French pronunciation: [ipɔlit pɔl dəlaʁɔʃ]; 17 July 1797 – 4 November 1856) was a French painter who achieved his greater successes painting historical scenes. He became famous in Europe for his melodramatic depictions that often portrayed subjects from English and French history.

27 de oct. de 2021 · Paul Delaroche. Junto a otros artistas como Géricault y Delacroix, Delaroche fue uno de los mejores y más conocidos pintores de historia franceses. Tras romper con el academicismo y abandonar la École des Beaux-Arts en 1817, se formó en el taller de Antoine-Jean Gros, discípulo del gran David.
1797 - 1856. Delaroche was one of the most popular French painters of the early 19th century. He was born in Paris and trained by Watelet and by the famous history painter Baron Gros (from 1818). Géricault encouraged him. He first exhibited at the Salon in 1822.
