Mediaeval Studies is the annual journal published by the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. The journal was established in 1939 and from the outset its purpose has been the publication of research on the Middle Ages by scholars throughout the world, particularly research involving unedited manuscript and archival material.

The Institute publishes studies, texts, translations, reference works, and collections of articles relating to the history and culture of the Middle Ages. The Institute’s annual journal, Mediaeval Studies, has been published continuously since 1939.
The Institute has over 300 titles in print, as well as the journal Mediaeval Studies; it also publishes volumes on behalf of the Centre for Medieval Studies and The Dictionary of Old English in the University of Toronto.
