8 de may. de 2023 · What are conditional sentences? Conditional sentences are a type of complex sentence. They’re made up of two parts: a condition (often introduced by if or unless) and a result. The condition sets up a situation, and the result tells us what will happen if that situation occurs.

All conditional sentences contain two clauses: A subordinate clause that describes an unreal condition (e.g., “If you train more”)
In real conditional sentences, we can use the present simple or present continuous in both clauses for present situations, and the past simple or past continuous in both clauses for past situations. We can use these in various different combinations.
Conditional sentences are often divided into different types. Zero conditional. We use the zero conditional to talk about things that are generally true, especially for laws and rules. If I drink too much coffee, I can't sleep at night. Ice melts if you heat it. When the sun goes down, it gets dark.
