The CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half-Day Program provides high school students from the Capitol region and beyond with rigorous training in the arts. Students choose a major from six different arts disciplines: Dance, Music (instrumental or vocal), Musical Theater, Theater, Design & Theatre Production, and Visual Arts.
Requirements for Participation. Students must be enrolled in their resident town’s high school to be eligible for participation. Hartford residents interested in applying to Arts Half-day must enroll at Bulkeley High School for their academic classes to participate in the half-day program.
ARTS HALF-DAY FUN FACT. The CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half-day Program is the first and oldest magnet school program in Hartford. We opened our doors in 1985 to fifty high school students from Hartford and six surrounding towns, and we’ve become one of the premier public arts programs in the region.
