i can see why people think he was murdered, but personally i believe it was suicide. he had been struggling so much and was clearly suffering from multiple issues at the time, which i think explains a lot of the things about his death that are seen as suspicious. also, apparently stabbing isn’t that uncommon of a way for men to commit suicide ...
Elliott Smith passed away 20 years ago today. Elliot was my neighbor in LA in the 90s and he was always super sweet. RIP. Damn that’s a cool guy to have known. A very unique artist. I went to college with him. He lived with my girlfriend, and two other friends.
*Spoiler* about Vice's (re)solved episode about Elliott's mysterious death. My long opinion. First and foremost we may never 100% know what happened, but my guess is Elliott was breaking up with her, he was getting off the drugs and knew his relationship wasn't healthy, and they were having a huge fight.
