  1. 6 de may. de 2008 · You need some brass shim stock to protect the shaft from the screw. Make yourself a “slap hammer” puller from a long bolt and something heavy. Slide the shim stock past the seal as far as it will go. Screw the deck screw into the seal. The seal is usually a combination of steel and rubber.

  2. A possible way to improvise the "apple corer" 915 input shaft seal removal tool is to use a pipe nipple if one can obtain one of the correct length and diameter. The sharp tapering threads on the end of the nipple would gradually screw into and grab the seal if they were the right size.

The only way to get the selector knob off is to press out the roll pin inside of the selector. You can attempt to press it out yourself, or you can take it to a machine shop that can do it for you.

  6. I need to replace the input shaft oil seal on my early 915. I know you have to do it from the inside, but do you have to tear the whole tranny apart to get there? The only directional posts I have seen were for a tranny rebuild and not for just a seal replacement.

  7. 29 de ene. de 2024 · Proceed to jam the cotter pin extractor into the shifter shaft seal, which of course surrounds the shifter shaft. Once you start, you are committed, as you will wreck the seal. It may take 5-10 minutes to really work the tool through the seal, but keep at it.
