Plug-In City (La Ciudad del Enchufe) como un proyecto total fue la combinación de una serie de ideas que se trabajaron entre 1962 y 1964. La carcasa de cabina metálica era un prototipo en el sentido de que colocaba elementos desmontables de la casa en una “megaestructura” de hormigón.
Plug-In City made its first appearance in the magazine Archigram Issue No.4 (1964) (Fig.4,5), as a ‘speculative series of proposals for a computer-controlled city designed for change with removable elements plugged into a ‘megastructure’ service framework’6 .
