An inviting new beacon for the downtown, the library proves a building needn’t be a tower to be noticed.
Positioned at the heart of Downtown Long Beach, the new Billie Jean King Main Library serves as a traditional library and a modern, technology-focused hub for the community. The two-story timber building welcomes over one thousand daily visitors and offers numerous activities that foster connection, learning, and collaboration.
With its name that pays homage to the famed athlete and Long Beach native, the Billie Jean King Main Library establishes a welcoming presence from the street. Once inside, visitors pass through a dramatic two-story light well that leads into a large central atrium.
