Los arquitectos suizos, Herzog & de Meuron se acercaron a la conversión de este espacio con una mano relativamente ligera, creando un espacio público contemporáneo sin disminuir la presencia histórica del edificio.
Bankside Power Station is a decommissioned electricity generating station located on the south bank of the River Thames, in the Bankside area of the Borough of Southwark, London. It generated electricity from 1891 to 1981. It was also used as a training base for electrical and mechanical student apprenticeships from all over the country.

Desde el 12 de mayo de 2000 es la sede de Tate Modern , y acoge en su interior la Colección Británica de arte moderno .

This was originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the architect of Battersea Power Station, and built in two stages between 1947 and 1963.
