Its history stretches back to the 1920s, when the United States realized it needed to protect pedestrians against the ever-growing number of cars populating the nation’s roads.
Creator: Eric W. Weber. The safety patrol at work, c.1930. St. Paul's school safety patrol–one of the earliest in the country–was first implemented in 1921. Parents, principals, and politicians in the city were at the forefront of its development.
During its long and distinguished history, the AAA School Safety Patrol program has provided a safer pedestrian environment and a wide spectrum of educational opportunities for millions of children, and AAA has provided the means for the patrol to succeed.
